From the moment I arrived at Hostel Tavares Bastos, I was embraced by warm hospitality. Eduardo and Mary, the owners, welcomed us with a surprising delight of a breakfast, setting the tone for a delightful stay. The hostel, located in a small, pacified favela, offers a unique experience of Rio, where friendliness and stunning views blend seamlessly. The proximity to the Complex of Sports of the Fluminense Football Club added a sporty touch to our stay, complemented by the intriguing sights of the sea and city from certain rooms. The charm of white Kombis with a blue stripe for public transportation added a nostalgic flair to our journeys around Rio, making each commute an adventure. The hostel's cozy double room, complete with shared bathrooms, ensured comfort without compromising on the essence of communal living. The free WiFi throughout the property kept me connected, while the shared kitchen equipped with cookware and utensils made me feel right at home. With Santos Dumont Airport and key landmarks like Estação D Pedro II Central and Catete within easy reach, exploring the city was a breeze.
